Stage 7 | Monchique – Vilamoura

But before you get to the ocean, you have to leave the mountains of Monchique behind you… and Monchique is the vivid proof that the Algarve is so much more than just sun and beach.

 

Leaving the hotel, the route will take you through some typical villages of Algarve. Climbing a bit you get to São Bartolomeu de Messines, and you’re still in the middle of the forgotten country, particularly of the never-knowing Algarve. The small mountains are around you and doesn’t look like the beach paradise everybody talks about.

From here, you will experience some route that is used in the Tour of Algarve, one of the best known cycling challenges we have in Portugal with all the top cyclists coming year after year. 
Malhão will be on your memories after this, a strange and unique peak in Portugal. One of the fews you will have to conquer along this last stage.

Suddenly you will find yourself in an urban, trendy and beautiful Marina… you are in Vilamoura and you’ve just crossed Portugal.

Congrats… you crossed this old country riding your bike for more than 1.000 km.
